Obituary for John Howard Miller

John Howard Miller, 78, passed away on Friday, September 29th, 2023. John was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Hope and Mildred Miller. Known as Johnny to all, he was raised in Hillsboro, Ohio. Following graduation, he attended Eastern Kentucky University and earned his degree in business. He then set his sights higher and became a decorated United States naval aviator and Intelligence Officer. He proudly served in VA-86 Sidewinders on the USS America and the USS Nimitz, where he was a “plank owner,” Centurion, and Landing Signal Officer (LSO). He finished his flying career as an Air Force fighter pilot and retired from active duty in 1997.

John’s greatest joy was his family, and he was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his sister, Marsha Julie (Bill) Tracy; wife, Ginger; former wife, Linda and their children, Kristine (Matthew) Niemiec, Michelle (JR) Wait, and Mindy (Tim) Killoran; as well as his grandchildren, Zachary, Andrew and Elizabeth Niemiec, Hannah, Hope, Hillary and Heston Cecrle, Jack and Maddy Wait, and Lincoln, Lucas, Alexandra, and Catalena Killoran.

John spent his final years sharing his love of the sea with his grandchildren, teaching them how to fish in the ocean and to golf like a pro. He will always be remembered for his integrity, honesty, and kindness. He is unforgettable in the memories of his family, fellow Airmen, shipmates, friends, neighbors, and many associates. He was a great man, husband, father, and grandfather. He is dearly missed. Rest in peace.

Services will be held on October 29, 2023, at Schoedinger Funeral Home in Dublin, Ohio at 1 pm. Schoedinger Dublin, 5980 Perimeter Drive, Dublin, Ohio 43017. (614) 224-8140
