John Schwier, age 59, of Ruskin, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025.
Born on September 20, 1966, in Madison, Wisconsin, he grew up with adrenaline in his blood — loud engines, fast tracks, and dirt roads shaped much of his early life. As a young man, he and his closest friends made memories chasing speed, pushing limits, and living life on their own terms.
In time, life shifted, and his greatest pride became his daughters, Jenna and Jessi, who grounded him and gave him purpose. Adventures evolved from street runs to go-carts, boat days, and time spent together as a family.
He enjoyed NASCAR, cheering for the Green Bay Packers, boating, and spending time with his long-time friends. Those close to him knew his heart — steadfast, loyal, and deeply tied to the people he loved.
He is survived by his two daughters, Jenna Smith and Jessi Hoffman, and by Jessi’s husband, Nick Hoffman; as well as his only grandson, Roczen Hoffman.
He is also survived by his mother, Carolyn Peterson; his brother, Jeff Schwier, and Jeff’s spouse, Karen Wideen; his niece, Kendra Varas, and her daughter, Isabella Varas; and his nephew, Keith Schwier, his spouse, Megan, and their son, Fitzgerald Schwier.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Schwier.
Beyond relatives, John built a chosen family — friends who walked beside him in loyalty, laughter, and the kind of unapologetic banter only lifelong friendships understand. You know who you are, and your place in his story was profound.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Southern Funeral Care, 10510 Riverview Drive, Riverview, Florida 33578, on Friday, December 19, 2025, with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. and the service starting at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends remember him in their own way — watch a race, cheer on the Packers, crack open a cold one with someone you care about, and enjoy the company of those who matter most.
