Jerry Lee Johnson, 73, of Brandon, Florida, was born June 27, 1950, in Clarksburg, WV. He went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 31, 2023. He was a beloved and devoted husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend. He is predeceased by his father Clarence and brother Buck Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Trina Rhodes Johnson; one brother John (Joetta) Johnson (WV); three sisters Mary Baughman (WV), Ruby Hughes (WV), and Beulah Gyke (OH); daughter Heather Robertson (FL); son Brian Johnson (FL); 2 stepsons Michael Calhoun (GA) and Cliff Calhoun (FL); a stepdaughter Beverly Herndon (FL); many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and his devoted fur baby Oliver Johnson.
He retired from Pepsi-Cola after many years of service, making numerous friends along the way. He was an avid golfer and loved to be on the golf course no matter the weather. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He never met a stranger and could talk to anyone. He was involved in the county softball league as Head Coach for many years coaching his daughter. He was a Volunteer-Assistant Golf Coach for a granddaughter at a local high school. He never missed an opportunity to watch the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or Tampa Bay Rays.
Jerry’s Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Southern Funeral Care, located at 10510 Riverview Drive, Riverview, FL 33578 at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 13, 2023, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to services. Service will be led by Pastor Steve of Winter Haven, FL, who led Jerry to the Lord many years ago. In lieu of flowers we are requesting donations be made to the American Heart Association in Jerry’s name.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
