Obituary for Jerry L. Lape
Jerry Lape, 57, of Brandon passed away on September 1, 2020 in Tampa, Florida. Jerry was born to Neil and Judith “Judy” Lape on May 17, 1963 in Medina, Ohio. They moved to Florida in 1984 where Jerry met the love of his life, Michelle Peacock. Three years later Jerry married his bride on July 17, 1987 in Tampa, Florida at Oak Park Baptist Church. They went on to spend 33 happy and loving years together raising their family in the Tampa area. Jerry worked at Highway Safety Devices as a Traffic Signal Superintendent. He was known for his level of knowledge in the trade and loved for his quick-witted humor. Jerry loved his family, NASCAR, cool cars, and polo shirts. His hobbies ranged from virtual racing to paintballing to arm wrestling, he even used to race with his brother-in-law at Eastbay Raceway. He always had a joke at the ready and could truly handle any situation. Jerry has touched the lives of many, he brought humor and light wherever he went. He will be truly missed by all.

Jerry is survived by his loving family and many friends; His wife, Michelle, his two daughters, Krista (Peter Chechanover) and Shania (Dallin Hopfer), his mother Judy, his mother-in-law and father-in-law Catherine and Dennis Miller, His brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Tammy, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard “Rick” and Nikki Peacock and his brother-in-law Benjamin “Benny” Peacock. He has four nephews; Damian Lape, Richard “Ricky Joe” Peacock, Kyle Peacock (Korie Peacock) and Ryan Peacock. Three Nieces; Brandy Lape, Melinda Edwards, and Courtney Lape. Two Great-Nephews; Noah Peacock, and Jackson Vinelli. And two Great-Nieces; Trinity Mayer, and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Racine. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Neil Lape and his niece Hailey Peacock.

The service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 5, 2020, at Southern Funeral Care. Due to COVID-19 and the restrictions involved, attendance will be limited to family invitation.
