It is with a Very Sad Heart that we share the passing of Janice Marlene Estabrook (Eckenboy), Age 77, of 11863 Frost Aster Dr., Riverview, FL early Friday, May 8, 2026 after a 6-year plus battle with Ovarian Cancer.
She was preceded in death by her brother Melvin Eckenboy Jr., Father Melvin Eckenboy and Mother Elaine Eckenboy (Safian). She is survived by her husband Russell Estabrook, Son Jason and daughter-in-law Francie, Daughter Amanda and son-in-law Kenneth Heystek, Grandsons Kenneth Heystek Jr. and Aaron Heystek and Grand-daughter Emilia Estabrook.
Jan and Russ met in July 1967 at the Cheetah (Chicago) and were married in August 1968. To Jan, their children (and their spouses) and grand children were the light in her eyes, and she loved being involved with everything they did. She also enjoyed to travel, especially to see different parts of our United States. The Chicago music scene in the early 70s was also a highlight of Jan’s, (Earl of Old Town, Somebody Else's Troubles and the Quiet Night) listening to singers such as Kris Kristofferson, John Prine, Steve Goodman, Bonnie Koloc, etc. Later, Jan would find where Jimmy Buffitt was playing and they would head to those locations (Parrot Heads). Another function Jan enjoyed was to rent a home (airBNB, etc) on a costal canal and have their kids and families visit and stay – she really liked having family around. Jan was also an avid reader, reading 2 to 3 books a week.
Jan grew up at 3251 W. Wabansia Ave, Chicago, IL. and attended and graduated from Kelvyn Park High School. By attending evening classes at Moraine Vally Community College, she graduated with an Associate in Arts degree. Jan was employed at Sunday Corporation – Chicago, Dun & Bradstreet – Chicago, Arbor Park Middle School – Oak Forest IL, Governors State University – University Park, IL and BrookCom Consulting – Riverview, FL. During their life they lived in Bridgeview, IL., Chicago Ridge, IL, Oak Forest IL., Frankfort, IL, and currently in Riverview, FL. Jan, your family misses very much.
