Obituary for James Warner Skinner
James Warner Skinner, born November 21, 1944, in Jefferson City, MO, to Velma and James Skinner. He attended school in Jefferson City and graduated high school in 1962. After graduation he worked at a bank and played in a 60’s Rock Band. During that time, he met and married Margaret Robnett in 1965. After the bank, he worked as a Weight Inspector for the Highway Patrol. Later he worked as a Missouri Highway Patrolman in the Kansas City, MO area. They had their first son there, James Sean Skinner, in 1968. He went to work for MKT Railroad. He was promoted several times, which always included a move for the family to Texas, back to Missouri and then back to Texas. While in Missouri, their second son was born, Jeremy Scott Skinner, in 1978. In 1996, he took a job in Tampa for a van service hauling railroad crews. His adult sons moved to Tampa too and met their wives. Sean married Melanie Pfiefer in 2000. They had two granddaughters. They were such a joy to him. He spoiled them rotten. He always said he couldn’t stand little girls because of their high pitched scream. But you know what, he loved their little screams and thought it was funny. Kaitlyn and Ashlie could do no wrong in his eyes. A Celebration of Life service will be held 5:30 P.M. Thursday, November 7, 2019, at Southern Funeral Care, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to services.
