Obituary for James F. Melton, III
James Franklin Melton III, 36, died unexpectedly February 12, 2022. He was born March 7, 1985, in Pinehurst, NC, the son of James Franklin Melton Jr. and Rhonda Waterhouse Melton. James graduated from Armwood High School, Class of 2003. He pursued a number of trade skills, learning gas piping, welding, and construction, among others. Ultimately, he settled into marine upholstery, following in his father’s footsteps. His creativity allowed him to reach into other, mostly untouched, areas of upholstery, leading him to gain a second family made up of multiple tattoo artists across the Tampa area. In November 2015, James married his greatest love, Rebekah, shortly after they purchased their first home together. They spent many happy days together, spoiling their animals and talking of rescuing more. James had an unending passion for anything on wheels and became a reliable helping hand for countless friends, family, and acquaintances. He loved his life, never knowing a stranger and could never stand seeing another person in pain, especially if he was capable of helping. He had a deep love for animals and a deeper love for the many people he calls family. James was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his father, James Franklin Melton Jr. He is survived by his mother and life- long best friend, Rhonda Waterhouse Melton; his sister, Shannon Lee; nieces, Maria Melton and Crystal Lee and his loving wife of 6 years, Rebekah Melton. A Celebration of James’ life will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Williams Park from 2pm to 4pm, 9425 US Highway 41, Riverview, FL 33578. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Diabetes Association.
