SHERMAN, James Deane, 66, of Riverview, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, November 24, 2013. Jim is the son of the late James and Betty Sherman and was born in Rochester, NY. He moved to Florida, where he later joined and proudly served in the US Navy. Jim married the love of his life, Sandy, on November 16, 1968 and together they owned and operated a successful car business. Jim was well respected for his sense of knowledge, ability to communicate with others and his gentle spirit. He has never met a stranger and he always had an amazing story to share. Jim was an avid fisherman, lobsterman and gardener and he will always be remembered for his kindness he extended to everyone he encountered. He was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Michael Sherman and brother, Ronnie. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Sandy; son, James Deane Sherman, Jr.; daughter, Kelly (Dale) Nelson; his fishing buddy and grandson, Connor; brothers, John, Ray and Donnie; sisters, Patty, Jackie and Mary and many other family and friends.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday, December 2, 2013, at Southern Funeral Care, 10510 Riverview Drive, Riverview.
