LASSITER, James Augustine
LASSITER, James A., 78, of Riverview, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2007, under the care of LifePath Hospice. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Teckla Lassiter, and is survived by Rita Beth, his wife of 56 1/2 years; son, Eric Lassiter, Los Angeles, CA; 2 daughters, Karen Thompson and her husband, David, and Sharon Lassiter, all of Tampa. With Rita as his field trip companion, he had many happy years exploring and studying the beautiful woods of Florida. Our loved one will leave us to cherish him always. Jim was a life-long resident of the area and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Tampa, the Fraternal Order of Police, and a WWII US Navy veteran. He served on the Tampa Police Department for 28 years, retiring in 1980. He also retired from Hillsborough Community College after 12 years. He also was a member of the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Society. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M., with a short prayer service at 7:30 P.M., at Southern Funeral Care (formerly Stowers Riverview Chapel), 10510 Riverview Dr., Riverview. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Tampa. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to Melech LifePath Hospice, 12973 Telecom Parkway, Suite 100, Temple Terrace, FL 33637.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M., with a short prayer service at 7:30 P.M., at Southern Funeral Care (formerly Stowers Riverview Chapel), 10510 Riverview Dr., Riverview. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 11, 2007, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Tampa.
