Obituary for Jack E. Mineo
Jack Edwin Mineo, 83, of Brandon, Fl went home to be with the Lord on September 5, 2021. Jack was born to Clarence and Doris Titus Mineo February 8, 1938 in Harper Kansas. He attended Northeast High School in St. Petersburg, FL. Jack married his high school sweetheart Janice Comeau July 6, 1958. He joined the United States Airforce in 1956. Although, never a pilot, he enjoyed the years working as a tow target operator and he also served his duty in the Vietnam war. Upon retiring from the Air Force in 1976, he moved to Brandon Florida. He was integral to the Brandon Community as the founder of Signs by Mineo and proudly designed and built the “Welcome to Brandon” signs. He was a lifetime member of the Brandon Elks Lodge and a member of the Brandon Eagles. He was the co-developer, with Dick Rhodes, of the Brandon Elks RV park.
He had a deep love for painting, poker evenings, driving his boat and never shied away from the dance floor. His greatest joy was his family and friends. He was “Papa” and “Papa Jack” to his grand and great grandkids and many others that loved him. He never met a stranger, anyone who knew him loved him.
Jack was proceeded in death by his parents, Clarence and Doris Mineo, stepmother Rhea Mineo and one brother Chuck Mineo. He is survived by his wife Janice Mineo. One son, Doug Mineo and wife Tammye, College Station, TX. One daughter, Roxie Parker, and husband John, Tampa FL. Grandchildren, Christopher Mineo (Crystal), Odessa, TX; Crystal Mineo-Diaz (Sonny), College Station, TX; Tara Illingworth (Stephen), Manchester, England and Kyle Parker, Tampa Fl. Eight great-grandchildren, Brayden, Cayden, Brailey, Cai, Reign, Kingston, Hampton and Hudson. Brothers Ronnie Mineo and Jimmy Mineo. A Celebration of Life and Elk's service will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 11, 2021, at Southern Funeral Care, Riverview. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Everyone attending is being asked to wear a face mask/shield.
