Obituary for Iwan M Black, Jr.

Iwan M Black Jr. crossed the veil and returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, February 16, 2024. He was the devoted husband of Lyndel Van Luyk Black, who was his cherished sweetheart for nearly 50 years, sealed for all time and eternity on May 9, 1974, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Born on December 11, 1954, Iwan was the son of the late, Iwan M Black Sr. and Gracie Rhea Jones of Morgan, Utah. He grew up in a loving family alongside his siblings LeeRoy, Gwen, Jane, Joan, Esther, and Shirley. He was preceded in death by his sister, Annette Beeton. A man of great faith, Iwan was a High Priest of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served diligently in various callings serving the Lord. However, his true passion lay in mentoring young men as a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts of America. He believed in nurturing the next generation, instilling in them values of compassion, leadership, and service. His dedication to this calling earned him the admiration and respect of all who knew him. Iwan was a man of many talents. He found joy in woodworking and computer programming, demonstrating remarkable skill in both endeavors. He delighted in life's simple pleasures, particularly in showcasing his campfire culinary skills as a Dutch oven master chef. His infectious laugh and fondness for telling goofy grandpa jokes brought light and laughter to every gathering. Above all, Iwan's warmth and unwavering faith touched the lives of many. He enthusiastically shared his testimony of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, leaving an enduring mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him and hear his testimony. Iwan leaves behind a legacy of love and service. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lyndel; his children, Lycia (Ray) Martinez, Juston, Jenica (Joseph) War, Jamelle (Earl) Brown, Jedadiah (Adah), Derrik; his 14 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, who were the joy of his life. Though he will be deeply missed, Iwan's spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know him. May his memory be a blessing, and may he rest in eternal peace.
