Henry Richard "Rip" Darden, Jr.
DARDEN, Jr., Lt. Col., Henry Richard "Rip" (USAF-Retired), 82, of Brandon, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, February 2, 2016. A native of Troup County, GA, he had resided in Brandon since 1976. He was retired from the US Air Force and worked as an accountant for 30 years. He was a life member of the Air Force Association and NRA and a member of the Retired Officer's Association, Westminster Presbyterian Church of Brandon (Elder Emeritus) and coach for the church softball team. He was a graduate and avid fan of the University of Georgia. Preceded in death by his daughter, Lucy Darden and sister, Alice Cavender, he is survived by his wife, Betty; sons, Richard "Dick" Darden and David H. Darden; daughter, Mary Darden Tarczynski; brothers, Charles, Joel and Randy Darden; sisters, Joyce Smith and Amy D. Estelle; 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Information
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 402 E. Lumsden Rd., Brandon, FL 33511. The family will receive friends Friday evening, February 5, 2016, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Southern Funeral Care, 10510 Riverview Dr., Riverview. Final services and interment will be in Moreland, GA. The family suggests wearing a touch of red to represent Rip's love of the Georgia Bulldogs.
