Obituary for Harry D. Vildibill, DVM

Harry D. Vildibill, Sr., DVM, was born November 10, 1931 and passed away September 2, 2021. Coming to Brandon straight from the U.S. Air Force, he set up the first Veterinarian practice in East Hillsborough County. He was instrumental in the building of two local churches, was Honorary Mayor of Brandon, President of the Florida Veterinarian Association, Lifetime member of Kiwanis of Greater Brandon and a Past Lt. Governor, was an active member of Ducks Unlimited, Past King in the Krewe of Venus, was the National Veterinarian Inspector for Hartz Mountain birds and fish, he cared for many of the Gibsonton carnival animals and took care of the Sheriffs K-9 dogs at no cost. A true animal lover, volunteer and builder of the community. Preceded in death by his son, Stephen Paul, he is survived by his children, Chuck Paul, Patti Vargo, H. Douglas Vildibill, Jr., M.D. and Cabell Vildibill, Sr.; his grandchildren, Mark, Stephen, Heather, Rachel, Joshua, Harry, Holley, John Michael, Cameron, Cabell, Florida, Phebe, Frank and Adel and great-granddaughters, Violet and Iris. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 402 W. Lumsden Road, Brandon, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, and to celebrate his legacy, his family asks you to consider supporting his Veterinary School at the University of Georgia.
