Obituary for Gerald "Jerry" Dean DeTimmerman

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry DeTimmerman, who was born in 1960 and left us on the morning of September 11th, 2025. He was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and a valued friend to many.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Susan DeTimmerman, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. He was the proud father of two sons: Derek DeTimmerman, married to Cherilyn DeTimmerman, and Matthew DeTimmerman, married to Emily DeTimmerman. His legacy continues through his four grandsons: Bradley DeTimmerman, Kai DeTimmerman, Liam DeTimmerman and Waylen DeTimmerman.

He is also lovingly remembered by his brother, Thomas DeTimmerman, and his sister, Jody Solsma. Jody is married to Curt Solsma and together they raised four children: John Solsma, Katy Solsma Bell, Lizzy Solsma Avis, and Christian Solsma. Jerry treasured his relationships with his siblings and their families, holding each close to his heart. His love for family is evident in the lives of everyone he touched.

In addition to his unwavering commitment to family, Jerry DeTimmerman dedicated 20 years of his life to serving in the United States Air Force. Throughout his distinguished military career, he exemplified duty, honor, and excellence, earning the respect of all who served alongside him. His nickname in the military was DT, which he passed down to his Son Derek DeTimmerman who proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for 10 years. After retiring as a proud Air Force veteran, he continued to support military operations for another two decades as an esteemed employee of leading defense contractors Chugach and Akima. During this period, he consistently performed his duties with high distinction and was highly regarded and favored by both peers and leadership.

Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Luetta DeTimmerman, and his father, Charles DeTimmerman. Their memory remained a guiding influence throughout his life, and he cherished the values and love they imparted to him.

Jerry spent his life praising and worshipping God. His deep faith inspired decades of active service within the Catholic Church, where he shared his time and talents in many ministries. In addition, he devoted many years working alongside THORN Ministries, giving back to the community by serving the homeless of downtown Tampa with compassion and humility. Whether preparing meals or distributing clothing, Jerry’s selfless acts reflected his unwavering commitment to living out the teachings of Christ and making a tangible impact on those in need. In his own free time he enjoyed collecting items, among many other things, he cherished Hallmark Ornaments.
