With profound sadness we announce the passing of Roger, our loving and devoted brother, father, uncle and friend to all whose lives he touched, on November 15, 2022. He was born June 25, 1932, in Horton, AL.
Roger put his faith and trust in Jesus early in his life and was ready to go home to heaven to be with him and Fran. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Fran. He is survived by siblings, Gail Purvis and Frank Heath (wife Carol), and Daughter Iris Heath.
Roger met Fran on a blind date in 1951 and they were married on November 27, 1952. Roger served in the Army from 1952-1954. Then worked for Firestone for over 30 years. Roger and Fran have been members of Bell Shoals Baptist Church since the late 60's and the last 20 years they taught second grade in the children's ministry. Every summer Roger was a camp counselor for the Bell Shoals youth camp. He also donated his time building homes for Habitat for Humanity over the years.
Roger and Fran had a few hobbies they did together. They were season ticket holders and super fans of the Florida Gators. Every home game you would find them at the Swamp. They also had a love for fishing on lake Kissimmee with friends and family. Saved the best for last! Their unconditional love for all their dogs and cats and most of all
JESUS!
A Celebration of his life will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, December 5, 2022, in the chapel at Bell Shoals Baptist Church with the family receiving friends one hour prior to services. A reception will follow. Inurnment for George and Mary will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at Sarasota National Cemetery.
