George Peter Anello, Jr.

ANELLO, Jr., George Peter, 72, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, following a brief but courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmen and George Anello, Sr. and his sister, Linda Anello Orofino. George was born and raised in Tampa and lived in the Valrico/Brandon area for many years before moving to Sun City Center, FL in 2014. George graduated from Jefferson High School in 1962 and obtained his AA Degree from St. Petersburg Junior College in 1965. He worked for the F.B.I. in Washington, D.C. (1965-67) during which time he joined the U.S. Army Reserves and proudly served until Feb. 1972. George returned to Tampa as joint proprietor and Master Locksmith of the family business - ABC Lock Key. George retired from Tampa Electric Co., in 2004 following 34 years of dedicated service. Perhaps best known for his passion for civic duty, he held numerous positions in the Tampa and Brandon communities, including President of Kiwanis Club of Tampa Bay, President of Greater Brandon Chamber of Commerce; President of the Rotary Club of Brandon and President of Brandon's Center Place Fine Arts Civic Association. George also served on various Boards including Business Advisory Boards of Brandon and Armwood High Schools; Emergency Care Help Organization (ECHO); the Greater Brandon, South Hillsborough, Riverview Sun City Chambers of Commerce. He was the proud recipient of civic awards including Brandon's Key Citizen (1995); the S.L. "Spud" Clements Award (2002), inducted into the Jefferson High School Alumni Hall of Fame and most recently the 2016 Legacy Award from Rotary Club of Brandon. George was a devoted husband, father, "Nano" and friend and was known for his kind, gentle, nurturing and loving spirit and will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him. In addition to his wife, Sharon, he leaves behind children, Lisa (Daniel) Nelson, Michelle (Norberto) Mujica, Tim Bland (Terri Takacs); grandchildren, Austin and Madison Nelson, Cristean and Alesia Quinones; brothers-in-law, John Orofino, Sr. and Steve Sullivan; nieces, Christina (Tim) Taylor and Aleeta (Adam) Jeamel; nephew, John Orofino, Jr. and numerous cousins. Special thanks to Dr. Mark Robbins and the staff of the Sun City office of Florida Cancer Assoc.; Sun City Center LifePath Hospice; dear friends Doug Stephanie Greer, Dr. Stanley and Janet Levsky, Joe and Rose Marie Saenz and countless other friends and extended family who have been there for us throughout this journey.

Funeral Information

The family will receive friends Friday evening, August 19, 2016, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at New Hope United Methodist Church, 120 N. Knights Ave., Brandon. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 20, 2016, at New Hope United Methodist Church, with a reception to follow.
