George Allen Hobbs was born to William and Eula Hobbs in Scottville, Illinois on January 31st, 1936. He had four siblings: William, Francis, Helen, and Mary Alice. He joined the U.S. Marine Corp in the mid-1950’s at the end of Korean Conflict and served as an U.S. Embassy Guard in several Middle Eastern countries most of his U.S. Marine Corp time. He returned home and started working for McDonnell Aircraft Corporation in St. Louis with his brother. In the late 1950’s he moved to Florida to start his own business. He started several businesses including Universal Erectors, Inc., All Steel Consultants, and Uni-Bilt Systems, Inc. He loved getting involved with the community, especially when it came to the sport of soccer. He donated time and money to both the Brandon Area Youth Soccer League and the University of South Florida Soccer Team where he became a Green Jacket member. George loved the mountains of Tennessee and playing cards either with family and friends or at a casino. He was preceded in death by his oldest son George T. “Ted” and his wife Rita H. He is survived by his sons Jonathan Wade (Barbara) and Trent Allen (Julie), his daughter Stacey Franzen (Kyle), seven grandchildren: Theodore “Teddy”, Curtis, Sean, Megan, Emily, Jackson, and Blake and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at Southern Funeral Care, Riverview, with the family receiving friends one hour prior to services. Interment will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, September 19, 2024, at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, with military honors. In Lieu of Flowers, please donate to your local VFW (Veteran’s of Foreign Wars) as George was a lifelong member of the VFW.
