MERCER, Gary Schelman, 71, of Seffner, Fla. went home to be with the Lord Monday, September 5, 2011. Gary graduated from Brandon High School, where he excelled at football, baseball, drama music. Gary also attended Carson Newman College in TN. His career was as a Landscape Architect Contractor, and owner of Allied Bleacher, Inc. He was, as always, a dynamic salesman. Gary's passions in life was his love for family, football, coaching little league sports, gospel music, singing and playing the piano. He loved to study God's word and was thrilled to tell others about the amazing love of Christ. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, DJ and Uteva Mercer. He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 30 years, Karli; children, Ruschel "Sissi" (Emmett Mercer-Petrone), Gary II "Merc", Tyler, and Morgan. Grandson, Payton; Son-by-heart, Kevin Cowens; step-children, Debbie Overton, and Chuck Chatham. A Home going service will be conducted at 1 p.m. at Countryside Baptist Church, Dover on Saturday, September 10th, 2011, and the family will be receiveing friends one hour prior to services. Interment will follow at Seffner Cemetery.
