Gary Lee Montgomery
Montgomery, Gary Lee 65, of Tampa, passed away Thursday morning after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Leavenworth, Kansas on December 29, 1948. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Evelyn Montgomery; brothers, Walter Montgomery, John Montgomery and sister, Doloris Bottoms. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Montgomery; son, David Montgomery and wife Summer; brother, Wayne Montgomery and wife Verna of California and many nieces and nephews. Gary was a proud veteran of The United States Army, an accomplished artist and cartoonist; he had a love for baseball and the outdoors and was an avid fisherman. Prior to his retirement in 2003 Gary was employed by Verizon where he was a Graphic Artist for 27 years. It was Gary's wish to encourage anyone who was the recipient of a card or cartoon by him with his artwork and/or poetry to please bring with you to the service and share with others. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 10 a.m. with services to follow at 11 a.m. at Southern Funeral Care, 10510 Riverview Dr., Riverview, FL. Interment will follow at Hurrah Cemetery, Alafia Baptist Church in Picnic, Florida. Flowers are appreciated, or donations may be made in his memory to LifePath Hospice.
