Obituary for Gary Alan Martin
Gary Alan Martin, 70, entered the gates of Heaven January 5, 2021. Gary was born June 24, 1950 in Elkhart, Indiana, the son of James Albert and Mary Louise (Stiffler) Martin.
He moved to the Brandon area when he was 10. A graduate of Brandon High School and University of South Florida, Gary spent most of his business career in management in the building supply industry. His most rewarding work was at the end of his career when he spent six years as treasurer of his beloved church, St. Andrew’s United Methodist. He was devoted to his church and served in many capacities, the most important being a witness of Christ’s love. He spent his retirement years volunteering for ECHO, a local organization which provides food, clothing and a hand up to those who have experienced rough times.
He met his life’s soulmate when they were both kids. They fell in love, grew up together, married and were blessed with three incredible sons. His last words on earth—I love you Candi. His love for his family never faltered.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife Candi Carter Martin, sons Travis and Brett, daughter-in-law Michelle, brothers, Randy (Colleen) Jeff and Eric (Brenda). Most precious of all, his Princess, granddaughter Skylar. Greeting him with open arms in Heaven, his son Ross.
A celebration of life will be held at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, Saturday, January 16, at 10 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gary may be made to St. Andrew’s UMC, 3315 Bryan Rd., Brandon FL 33511 or ECHO of Brandon, 507 N. Parsons, Brandon, FL 33510.
