Bates, Frances Eatman, 94, of Brandon, died October 19, 2009. She is preceded in death by marriages to Claude H. Eatman, and James C. Bates. Survivors include sons, G. Thomas Eatman and Richard H. Eatman, Sr. and wife Ann Eatman; her Langford brothers, John of Panama City and Remer of Ocala; sister, Allie Wright of Arcadia; grandchildren, Richard H. Eatman, Jr., Michael T. Eatman and Rebecca Cherry; great-grandchildren, Jenna Cherry, Jake Eatman and Justin Eatman. She was the daughter of H.P. and Buelah Langford of Arcadia who were original pioneers of the Peace River Valley. After graduation from Arcadia High School and marriage, the family moved to Lakeland where her sons were raised. In a later marriage, she and her husband owned and operated Park Pharmacy in Avon Park subsequently moving to Brandon in 2000. A lover of plants and all things beautiful, she raised orchids and was a lifetime member of the Avon Park Garden Club. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 23, 2009 from 6 - 8 pm at Southern Funeral Care, 10510 Riverview Dr., Riverview. Graveside Services will be on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Oakhill Burial Park in Lakeland, FL.
