THORNHILL, Evon C. "Ed", CMSgt., USAF, Retired, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, February 2, 2009, in Brandon, FL. Born in McComb, MS on October 9, 1927, he enlisted in the Army at 18, then transferred to the U.S.A.F. During his 30 yrs. of distinguished military service, Ed met Akemi Tsunako, his bride of 52 yrs., in Okinawa, Japan. After retiring from the Air Force, he went on to work 16 yrs. for the Auto Trader Magazines and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brandon. He was preceded in death by his son, Donald and granddaughter, Hannah and is survived by his wife, Akemi "Susie", Brandon; son, Daniel, St. Petersburg, FL; son, David (Kim) and grandsons, Alex and Max, Mooresville, NC; daughter-in-law, Cathy and grandson, David, Bloomingdale, FL and brother, Romeo (Doris) Thornhill, So. Lyon, MI.
Funeral Information
Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 7, 2009, at the First Baptist Church of Brandon, 216 N. Parsons Ave., Brandon, with the family receiving friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Inurnment will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
