Edward "Ed" James Gefre
Edward James Gefre, 86, died peacefully in his sleep on September 11, 2017. He was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota and graduated from South Dakota State University with a Bachelor Degree in Engineering. He was a Veteran of the Korean War with the US Air Force in Kimpo, Korea. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn E. Gefre. Marilyn was his high school sweetheart and love of his life. Ed was a member of Nativity Catholic Church since 1972 and was active with Meals on Wheels. Survivors include his three children, James Edward Gefre, Apollo Beach, FL, Mary Jo Seaholm and June Eastman, both of Riverview, FL; brother, Albert Gefre, Aberdeen, SD; two sisters, Bernice Famias, Bismarck, ND and Mary Ann Preston, Irving, TX and three grandchildren, Kristen Gefre, Tampa, FL, Brandi Paine, Riverview, FL and Bradford Eastman, Denver, CO. Just prior to his death, he was able to hold his only Great Grandchild, Kayden Jappen, 2 1/2 months old.
Funeral Information
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 26, 2017, in the chapel at Nativity Catholic Church, Brandon with Fr. John Tapp, celebrant. Inurnment will be private at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
