Obituary for Dorothy Hanson Moore
Dorothy Hanson Moore, 70, of Dade City, FL, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2020. A native of Ohio, she has resided in the area for most of her lifetime. She was a teacher and a dedicated UF/IFAS Extension Pasco Master Gardener Volunteer and was awarded the Presidents Volunteer Service Award from Corporation for National and Community Service under the Points of Light Foundation. She was preceded in death by her parents, Murlin and Myra Hanson and nephew, Douglas Craig and is survived by her son, Brian (Chonya) Alvarez; daughter, Julie (Joshua) Alvarez Smith; sisters, Kathleen (Stephen) Zimbler, Doreen Hanson and Marilyn Craig and grandchildren, Dalton Murlin Smith, Emily Marie Smith, Logan Hunter Alvarez, Jaidyn Nicole Alvarez and Kearstin Alyse Alvarez. Due to CDC guidelines on attendance, private family services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 24, 2020, at Southern Funeral Care, Riverview. The family will receive, up to 50, friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Dorothy Moore Scholarship.
