Dorothy Grace Gay of Brandon, FL, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2023, after a short stay at Tessera Health Care of Brandon Florida at the age of 98. Born on August 13, 1924, to Ralph E. and Grace (Robinson) Staples in Stoughton, MA. She was married to Clinton B. Gay who was predeceased 23 years ago. Dorothy was also predeceased by her brother, Robert (Bob) Staples and his wife, Virginia of Manomet, MA. She is survived by her son, Russell C. Gay, with whom she had resided with since 2001; brother, Ralph Staples of Canton, MA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In 1954, Dorothy and Clint founded Gay The Florist in Stoughton, MA. She enjoyed sailing, traveling, motor homing, and crafting with friends. As an accomplished painter, she studied with numerous artists of renown in Massachusetts and Florida.
At a later date, a celebration of life will be held and there will be an inurnment at the Evergreen Cemetery in Stoughton, MA. Any remembrances may be sent to your local PBS station, that provided her so many hours of entertainment.
