Dorotha (Dotty) Loving, passed away at the age of 79 on Monday, July 15, 2024. A wonderful Christian mother and teacher, she is preceded in death by her dearly loved husband, James Okey Loving, Jr.
Dotty enjoyed spending time with her family, teaching pre-school and Sunday school, singing in the First Baptist Church of Brandon choir, and knitting. She loved helping others, often bringing them pizza or special treats (donuts, cookies, etc.) and took great delight in giving one of her hand-made knitted baby blankets to the expectant mom.
As the fourth of five children, Dotty grew up in a loving, caring and compassionate family in Flatwoods, WV. She married Okey before finishing college, and immediately began her first of several teaching assignments in a one-room schoolhouse. Motherhood brought Dotty a joy and love that became her life calling. She & Okey were blessed with 4 children and their family later expanded to include daughters & sons-in-law, as well as 8 grandchildren. While she spent most of her life in various towns in West Virginia, she and Okey retired to Brandon, FL in 1995.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 12 PM at the First Baptist Church of Brandon, FL and on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 1PM at the Stockert Funeral Home, Flatwoods, WV. A private interment of Dotty & Okey will follow the October 5th Memorial Service.
