Obituary for Donald Cline Cornett Jr.
Donald Cline Cornett, Jr.
CORNETT, Donald Cline Jr., 46, went down his country road surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, May 27, 2017, in Brandon, FL after a second courageous battle with brain cancer. Born in Tampa, raised in Valrico, he lived most of his adult life in Brandon. He participated in youth baseball at North Brandon Little League. At Horace Mann Jr. High School, he joined the Future Farmers of America where he excelled in raising and showing prize-winning livestock. He was awarded Grand Champion Carcass at the Florida State Fair in 1985 and Reserve Grand Champion Carcass at the Florida Strawberry Festival in 1986. As an exhibitor of Californian rabbits, he also won several first place ribbons. He was a 1988 graduate of Armwood High School and studied Agribusiness at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, GA. His curiosity of gadgets, toys and tools led him into repair services for Delta Porter-Cable thus jumpstarting his long career as an electrician. He was a proud Gator dad, Bucs and NASCAR fan, avid Texas Holdem player and loyal member of the Brandon Elks and AMVETS. A country boy at heart, he lived a simple life on his own terms. Punctuality and mental math were a part of his forte. In the months preceding his death, he enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially making memories with his daughter at their favorite theme park, Disney's Magic Kingdom. Donald was preceded in death by his grandparents, William C. Cornett, Karl W. Sr. and Mary Ann Frese. Survivors include his parents, Elizabeth F. and Dr. Bruce H. Crowell of St. Petersburg, Donald C. Sr. and Judith H. Cornett, daughter Hailee M. Cornett, all of Valrico, grandmother, Dorothy M. Cornett of Brandon, sister Carla C. Cornett of Tampa, step-brothers, Donald S.
