Dennis Lee Howard, 67, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025.
Born on October 13, 1957, Dennis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He shared over three decades of love and partnership with his wife, Gayle Howard. Dennis had one son, Greg and one daughter Julie. He later found immense joy in their granddaughter, Amberlyn, and great-granddaughter, Coralee.
Dennis dedicated more than 30 years of his life to Covanta Energy, where his strong work ethic and loyalty left a lasting impression. Beyond his career, he was known for his quick wit, contagious laughter, and a deep love for gardening. Whether tending to his plants or making those around him smile, Dennis found joy in the simple, meaningful parts of life.
He was one of eleven siblings and cherished the bond he shared with his brothers and sisters. Family was at the heart of everything Dennis did, and his warmth and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A service and celebration of life will be held at Southern Funeral Care in Riverview on Tuesday, July 1st at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages planting something in his memory—just as he spent his life helping things grow.
