Obituary for Dallas Von Pavone
Dallas Von Pavone

Pavone, Dallas Von, 71, of Brandon, FL, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2012. He was born July 5, 1940, in Kingston, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elisabeth Ann Westhoff Pavone. He joined the army and was honorably discharged in 1964. He was an art history major at Kent State University and became a highly sought after artist. He specialized in religious art and beautified the sanctuaries of many churches with his murals. He developed and patented a novel process for producing stained glass windows which are installed in churches throughout Ohio, Kentucky, and Florida. He became a successful choral and music director and composer, both in Ohio and Florida. Among the many music groups he founded were the Tampa Bay Pops. Prior to their retirement, he and Lis were music directors at Mary, Help of Christians Chapel in Tampa and were instrumental in procuring a new organ for the chapel. His mission throughout his entire musical and artistic life was "to play our best for Him, to move just one more soul closer to God." He was a fighter to the end and he never let his lifelong health issues get the best of him. His final artistic adventure was a minor role in the recent movie "Dolphin Tale" just six months after open heart surgery. Family was everything to him and he lived his family life to the fullest. He is survived by his four children, Alice (Joseph) Paviglianiti of Pittsburgh, PA; Lisa (Brent) Jones of Tampa; Anthony (Madeline) Pavone of Pembroke Pines; and Dominic (Kortney) Pavone of St. Petersburg; and 10 grandchildren: Daniel, Anna, Joey, and Michael Paviglianiti, Morgan Jones, Cecilia and Jaco Pavone, and Dominic, Jonathan, and Elisabeth Pavone. Visitation will be on Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. with a recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. at Southern Funeral Care in Riverview. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Mary Help of Christians Chapel, followed by interment at Hillsboro Memorial Gardens, Brandon.
