Colleen Marie (Durney) Crosby, 51, of Riverview, passed away on March 10th, 2023, after a brief illness. She was surrounded by her loved ones at the time she passed.
Colleen was born on May 7th, 1971, to Rita Moore and James Durney in St. Louis, Missouri. The family moved to Ormond Beach, Fl where Colleen attended school. After graduating from Ormond Beach High, she continued her studies at the University of Florida earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology in 1993.
She met the love of her life, Rees Gordon Crosby, II in July 1996 and they were wed at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Tampa, in June 1998. They are the proud parents of two children, Aries (Annalise) and Keane.
She dedicated her life to being a fantastic mother encouraging both her children to excel and to pursue their dreams. Colleen’s passion for photography captured her family’s zest. She loved gardening, and especially had a penchant for nurturing orchids.
Colleen focused her career work on development of fund raising for numerous non-profits, including The Florida Aquarium in Tampa and later at the Tampa Bay History Center, both at Tampa’s waterfront.
Her warmth and kindness were experienced by everyone she met. Meeting Colleen for the first time would make you feel like you’ve known one another for a lifetime. Her exuberant personality will be missed by her family and friends.
Colleen was predeceased by her grandparents.
She is survived by her husband Rees, her children Aries and Keane, her siblings Sean Durney of Orlando, Fl, and Kim Texter of New Smyrna Beach, FL- and her parents, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
There will be a celebration of life at 5:00 PM on Sunday, March 26th, 2023, at The Rotary Club of Brandon, 3007 S Kings Ave, Brandon, FL 33511.
