McElroy, Brain Scot, 57, of Lithia, FL passed away on January 23, 2015 at his home following a long bout with cancer. He was born in Mt. Sterling, KY on December 26, 1957 to Annabelle Cheek McElroy Disney and the Gerald Thomas McElroy. He was preceded in death by his father, Gerald McElroy; brother, Randal Keith McElroy. In 1977, he was married to the former Denise Lynn Smith at Highland Christian Church in Frankfort, KY. They have two children, Larah Lee Ann McElroy and Shane David McElroy. He was a graduate of Franklin County High School, class of 1975. He attended Morehead State University and Kentucky State University. He worked for the Kentucky State Government and he was also the owner of McElroy Construction, Inc. until it closed in 2008 and recently worked as a private investigator for Commercial Index Bureau. He was past Treasurer and a member of the High Rollers Car Club. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America in Troops 61 and 628, as well as Venture Crew 811. In 2013, he earned the Timucua District award of Merit. He also enjoyed owning a horse farm and riding his horses. He is survived by his wife, Denise, daughter, Larah; son, Shane of Lithia; mother, Annabelle Cheek McElroy Disney; mother-in-law, Ann Smith; sister-in-laws, Ellen Smith-Gotshall and Jennifer Smith; brother-in-law, Alex Smith; and Several nephews and nieces of Frankfort, KY. A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, February 1, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Alafia River State Park with a Pot Luck Dinner to follow the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Evergreen Acres Arabians Horse Farm.
