Boyt "Lee" Elam, passed away peacefully at home on December 26, 2025, at the age of 86. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, and he will be fondly remembered by all of his family and all who knew him throughout the greater Brandon area community and beyond.
Lee was a well-known attorney with an office in Brandon for 50 years. He recently published a memoire he entitled “Charity Is Giving of Yourself”, which he described as a "tribute to some of the most generous individuals" he encountered. In his earlier years Lee was in the Peace Corps and served in Medellin, Columbia in South America where he became fluent in Spanish.
Lee graduated from Stetson Law School and was a Florida State University graduate and a lifelong Seminole fan. This was known to all who passed by his office sign on the corner of Parsons and Lumsden. Lee grew up in Greeneville, Florida as a middle child with two brothers. His younger brother Jerry passed away just two days earlier than Lee. They are survived by their oldest brother Sonny Elam who will soon be 90. He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat’; sons, Robert, Timothy, David and Andrew Magann; daughters, Karen and Stephanie Elam, Susan Arcand and Melinda White; 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Lee was an avid athlete most of his life and joke teller as well. He was also a convert to the Catholic faith and a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He lived his life as a testament to his faith. Lee will be forever remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor and will be dearly missed. May he rest in eternal peace until we meet him again in God's heavenly kingdom.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Resurrection Catholic Church, Riverview. Interment will follow at Limona Cemetery, Brandon. A reception will follow at the home of Melinda and Joe White, 502 Lakewood Drive, Brandon 33510.
