Obituary for Bonnie Roberta Petersen

Bonnie Roberta Petersen, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on August 30, 1942, Bonnie lived a life grounded in love, faith, curiosity, and an unwavering devotion to family.

Bonnie married the love of her life, Larry Petersen, on February 13, 1964. Together they built a beautiful family and shared many years of laughter, partnership, and adventure until Larry’s passing. Bonnie was a devoted mother to her sons—Scott Petersen, Todd Petersen (Colleen), and the late Dan Petersen—and her love for them was immeasurable. She also cherished her role as a grandmother to Ellen Petersen, Meghan Petersen, Molly Petersen-Reeves (Brock), Tyler Petersen, and Alaina Petersen. Bonnie was excitedly awaiting the arrival of her great-grandson, Finley Daniel Eugene Kruger, due on January 20, 2026.

Bonnie is survived by her brother, Bob Marten; her daughter-in-law, Margi Petersen; and many extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Larry; her parents, Archie and Elaine Marten; her son, Dan Petersen; and her sister-in-law, Wendy Marten.

Known for her warm heart and sharp wit, Bonnie found great joy in simple pleasures. She loved traveling, tackling crossword puzzles, and watching her favorite show, Doc Martin. Above all, she treasured the time spent with her dearest friends—the “Fab 5”: Clara, Rosie, Sandi, and Carol—whose companionship brought her endless laughter and comfort throughout the years.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Reggie, Bob, and Chris for their exceptional care, support, and kindness.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brandon, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to:

Immanuel Lutheran Church and/or Suncoast Hospice Foundation.

Bonnie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, resilience, and faith will remain forever in the hearts of her family and friends.
