Obituary for Beverly Owens Knox
Beverly Owens Knox, 93, passed peacefully at her home in Brandon. FL on Sunday, May 22, 2022.
Beverly was born July 11, 1928, in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Lynwood and Annabel Owens. Growing up in Williamsburg, VA, she proudly wore her Southern roots on her sleeve, and would talk about her time serving as a hostess for Colonial Williamsburg. She graduated from William & Mary College, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and is also where she met her late husband of 48 years, William Knox. As a schoolteacher, she always stressed the importance of education throughout her life.
Beverly believed in “living life to the fullest and doing what one enjoyed, for as long as one is able”. For her this included playing tennis, swimming, volunteering at organizations such as Meals on Wheels and Friends of the Public Library, and times shared with her large circle of friends. She was also devoted to the dogs in her life, most recently Sam and Lucky. She is survived by her 3 sons, Pete, Lee, and Doug; along with granddaughters, Jenna Faber, Taylor King, Hunter Knox, and Layne Knox and 2 great-grandchildren, Channing and Banks Faber.
Memorial services will be held at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church, Valrico, FL, on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at 11:00 A.M., with a Celebration of Life Gathering at the Brandon Elks Lodge, 800 Centennial Lodge Drive, Brandon, starting at 12:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to LifePath Hospice or the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, in Beverly’s name.
