Beverly B. Liebenow, formerly of Bloomington, IN, passed away on September 3, 2022, just days before her 97th birthday. She graduated from Morton High School, Berywn, IL, in 1943 and had a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Northwestern University. Beverly took great pride in her active involvement with Indiana University, especially with the IU Women’s Club, through which she served as President in 1977. She and her high school love and husband, J. Gus Liebenow, could often be seen at IU’s academic events, performing arts productions and basketball games. A trailblazer for equality, Beverly believed women should have their own money. She started up one of the first women’s investment clubs in the 1970s, and the club is still active today. Beverly and Gus traveled the world, and their adventures took them to over 57 countries together. Nicknamed a butterfly by Gus for how she greeted her many friends, Beverly had close friendships in all corners of the world and viewed strangers as “friends she had not yet met.” She is survived by her four children: Diane (George) Gray, Debra (John) Daly, Jay Liebenow, John (Tina) Liebenow; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
