It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Barbara Jane Chapman who left us peacefully on April 4, 2024, at age 72 in Riverview, FL.
Born on April 5, 1951, in Montreal, Canada, Barbara was a cherished member of her community and a loving Mother, Grandmother and Sister.
Growing up in Montreal and Westport, CT, Barbara developed a lifelong passion for horticulture. She was a graduate of Staples High School in Connecticut and furthered her education at Lasell College in Massachusetts.
Her love for plants was evident to all who knew her as she nurtured more than 50 plants at any given time and earned the title of Master Gardener.
Barbara’s caring nature extended beyond her gardens. She was a dedicated caregiver who brought comfort and joy to many throughout her life. Her love for animals, especially cats, was immense and brought her much happiness. Her life was marked by her strong faith and active involvement in her local church in Florida. There she formed many friendships that brightened her years in the community.
She relished family vacations in Puerto Rico when she was younger, always dreaming of a life surrounded by beaches and palm trees “clicking in the breeze.” A dream that she finally got to live out in beautiful Florida.
Barbara leaves behind her daughter, Danya Lett; granddaughter, Layla Larzalere; brother, Peter Chapman and nieces, Caitlin and Kelsey Chapman, along with countless friends who were blessed to know her.
