Avery “Buddy” Glover Jr. passed away unexpectedly Saturday, November 15. He was a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, and brother and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Buddy was born October 5, 1952, in Tampa to Marie and Avery Glover Sr. After graduating from Brandon High School in 1970, Buddy served in the United States Army. In 1978, Buddy met the love of his life, Sue Felke, and they were married in 1979. Buddy was the owner/operator of L&A Water Systems and worked hard to make sure no one was without water for long, whether it was an evening, weekend or holiday. In his last years, he was also a dedicated employee at Ace Hardware.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with friends and family playing darts, poker, shooting pool, or playing hours of gin at the dining room table with his son. Buddy was a diehard Bucs fan from their inception and proudly attended their first home win in 1977. He was a huge fan of Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield but thought their prevent defense was a joke repeatedly made at his personal expense. With his children and later with his granddaughter, he specialized in backyard safaris, catching lizards and snakes. He worked diligently to make sure that every bird and squirrel in a two-mile radius of his home was well fed.
Buddy was often quiet and introspective but was always ready to sit on the back porch sharing stories and a laugh.
He is survived by his wife Sue, his children Amy and Michael, their spouses Travis and Mandy, his sisters Suzie and Cindy, and his most beloved granddaughter Kayleigh Grace. He will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and coworkers as an honest and good man.
A Celebration of Buddy’s life will be held Friday, November 21, 2025, from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Southern Funeral Care where all are invited to gather and share stories and memories of how Buddy touched their lives.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Buddy’s honor to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. nami.org
