Obituary for Adrienne Ahlers Crandall
Adrienne Ahlers Crandall passed away peacefully at home on September 2, 2020, after a 3-year battle with lung cancer. Adrienne was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as she passed into the arms of our savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Beloved wife for 62 years to Gary Crandall (deceased), mother to Dorothy LeMay (Dean) of Garner, NC, Gary Crandall (Diana) of Dover, FL, William Crandall (deceased), Karl Crandall (Millie) of Lakeland, FL and Kevin Crandall (Debbie) of Seffner, FL. Adrienne had 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Adrienne was born in New York and moved to East Hartford, CT in 1961 where she lived and raised her five children. During her time in East Hartford, Adrienne worked at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft and was active in East Hartford Little League baseball. While in East Hartford, Adrienne discovered her love of ceramics and opened her own ceramic studio which she and her husband Gary ran until the move to Sarasota, FL in 1999. She moved to Seffner, FL in 2014.
While Adrienne loved all her children and grandchildren, the great grandchildren held a special place in her heart. You can ask anyone she could corral long enough as she would begin listing each of them off and the special talent each had. If Adrienne were having a bad day, a visit from one of the great grandchildren would always brighten her day.
Aside from her devotion to her great grandchildren, Adrienne loved the New York Yankees and belonged to several Yankees groups which she remained active in until her passing. Also, Adrienne loved tending to her Christmas cactus plants and to her geraniums as well as knitting blankets, hats, and booties for each of the new great grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held for family and close family friends. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society in Adrienne’s memory.
